‘Cause we got a little ole convoy, rockin’ through the night.

“…In a Kenworth, pulling logs. Cabover Pete with a Reefer on, and a Jimmy, Haulin’ hogs. “

In 1975, “C.W. McCall” released “Convoy”, capturing the epitome of the CB Radio craze of the 1970’s. In the 50 years since, it has become an anthem of trucking nostalgia. (Youtube Link)

In 1977, at the height of the CB Craze, EMI Pictures was looking to cash in and green-lit a movie based from the song.

While Smokey and the Bandit is well remembered in the pop culture zeitgeist, Convoy holds a special place for those in the trucking community.

Reportedly, the Mack truck operated by Rubber Duck in the film is being restored and will display at the National Museum of Transportation in St. Louis, but it’s not currently listed on the museum’s website.
