The Rare IT and Music Joke

This joke has been bouncing around the music forums on the internet for a generation, so I can’t take credit for it. It was probably first written by an IT Admin with a love of Thelonious Monk.

And now it’s time to come clean…I fudged a bit for the joke.

Cdom9 is actually just written as C9 in most chord notations, I added it here to make the final product a bit longer. That being said, C9sus4 is a very traditional Jazz chord.

Adding the sharp 7th is definitely something I put in simply because every default password has to have a random special character. Musically, this moves the Bb of the dominant seventh to a C.

I honestly don’t know how the final creation would sound. For those wanting to try it at home, it’s C-F-G-C-D.

And if you pronounced #7 as “hashtag 7”, please go spend more time in music class.
